About the Role
This flexible role offers a diverse caseload, treating animals brought in through surrenders, RSPCA animal ambulances, community outreach programs, the Inspectorate, and internal transfers. You’ll be part of a highly skilled veterinary team, working to improve animal welfare outcomes in one of Queensland’s busiest animal care facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality medical and surgical veterinary care to a variety of domestic animals.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for all patients.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure optimal animal welfare outcomes.
- Contribute to research projects and attend RSPCA staff meetings and community events.
- Uphold RSPCA Qld’s values, fostering a compassionate and professional work environment.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re an experienced, adaptable veterinarian with a passion for animal welfare.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or Australian recognised equivalent).
- Minimum 5+ years or surgical, emergency, and critical care experience with companion animals
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to participate in media appearances or legal proceedings if required.
- Ability to multi-task under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced hospital environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, fostering teamwork across departments.
- Organised, with exceptional time management and attention to detail.
- Flexible and pragmatic in approach to veterinary medicine.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting animals up to 10kg.
